At present we run one education program for mid-level ophthalmic personnel (M.L.O.P.). To enhance opportunities for the underpriviledged, we actively recruit 18 to 20 year old females from poor family backgrounds with excellent aptitude, compassion, and preferably science backgrounds. We educate and train these women in primary eye care for 2 years. Upon completion of their training, they are able to act as counselors during eye camps, check vision, conduct preliminary eye examinaitons using hospital equipment at their disposal, and prescribe eye glasses. With enough experience, they are even able to assist doctors during surgery.
We also provide short-term observership training for young ophthalmologists.
